The best 100% vegan food in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Last updated: February 26, 2026

Argentina has a bit of a reputation for being very meat-orientated. But, I’m happy to say that Buenos Aires is a great destination for vegans. There is a growing scene here and you can eat a variety of foods, including vegan versions of local dishes, fine dining, baked goods, and plenty of burgers.

Argentina isn’t known for being much of a vegan hotspot, so I was pleasantly surprised to find plenty of vegan food dotted around the city, including some pretty incredible places that I became a little bit obsessed with (including high-end small plates and bakeries).

The great thing is that many of these are dotted around the city in the popular tourist spots. So you’ll likely find something good to eat in most places you visit on your holiday!

Everything in this list is 100% vegan. I have also added a few other non-vegan spots at the bottom that I thought were worth mentioning, should you want more options.

Whilst you are here, you may also want to check out my guide on the best things to do in Buenos Aires (as a tourist).

Since I last visited in 2025, a few vegan places (Casa Nueza and Craft Vegan Bakery) have introduced animal products onto their menu. After checking out these places myself in February 2026, I have now removed them from my top picks and have made a few notes about them at the bottom of my guide!

My top picks

Of all the 100% vegan spots around Buenos Aires, these are my absolute favourites!

Gioia Cocina Botanica

  • Location: Recoleta
  • Dish recommendation: Corn croquettes

Gioia Cocina Botánica is a fine dining vegan restaurant located inside the Hyatt hotel. It is recommended in the Michelin Guide, and I can see why; the food is beautiful. It is plated well, and the flavours are amazing.

It is a small plates style set up in a fancy hotel, so expect to spend a little bit whilst eating here! But for the experience and the food, I fully recommend it.

All of the dishes tasted amazing, but my absolute favourite was their corn croquettes. I could eat bowlfuls of these.

If the weather is nice, you can sit outside in their beautiful garden patio area with a glass of natural wine. It is the perfect spot for a date or a treat night out.

Vuena

Vuena is a vegan fast food joint and bakery with two locations in Buenos Aires. They sell a variety of burgers (made using healthy ingredients like tofu), hot dogs (my favourite thing here), and pastries.

It is fast food, but tasty, not too greasy, filling, and pretty healthy!

It operates predominantly as a takeaway spot, but there are a few seats both inside and outside (depending on weather and location), so you can sit in to eat, in between exploring the beautiful streets of Palermo or Belgrano.

Their pastries are delicious and my second favourite in the city (just behind the croissants and pain au chocolat at Casa Nueza).

A vegan Parrilla grill at La Reverde - some of the best vegan food in Buenos Aires, Argentina

La Reverde Parrillita

If you want to eat like an Argentinian, vegan style, then you must check out La Reverde Parrillita. They offer a selection of vegan grilled meats served up with salad or fries and chimichurri.

If you order the grill for two, you will get it served up on your table, which makes for a fun experience. I believe pretty much all of it was made from Seitan.

The food was enjoyable, and it was a unique experience, not one that you will get in many places as a vegan in Argentina. But it definitely helps if you are a fan of seitan haha.

Make sure to keep an eye on their Instagram because their opening times change regularly.

Mudra

Mudrá is one of those places that I ummed and ahhed about visiting, because of its mixed Google Maps reviews. People often remark on the great flavours but say that it is way overpriced. So I knew I had to put it to the test with a small group of us.

All three of us agreed that the flavours were great. All the sushi was fresh and flavourful, each with a distinct flavour profile. But the standout dish, both texture and flavour-wise, was the crispy rice. The pasta was also good, but nothing overly special.

When comparing it to the vegan sushi I’ve had elsewhere in the city, I can understand the pricing. The quality speaks for itself. But yes, your final bill will be higher than what you’d pay elsewhere (ours came to around $78 USD in total).

I’d say it is up there with Gioia (mentioned above). But if you can only afford one fancy meal during your trip to Buenos Aires, I’d prioritise Gioia with Mudrá coming second.

Chempanadas

  • Location: Delivery only
  • Dish recommendation: Viaje a Jujuy (seitain, mushrooms, and tofu-filled empanadas)

I am so glad I discovered this vegan empanada brand on Rappi (a delivery app). They were up there as some of the best empanadas I’ve ever eaten! The dough is just the right amount of thickness, so that it forms the perfect vessel for eating the filling.

All of the flavours were distinct and really tasty. I particularly enjoyed the Viaje a Jujuy which had a mix of tofu, seitan and soya – all the protein! But tbh, you can’t go wrong with any of the flavours. E.g. their tomato and basil empanada is excellent, like a mini pizza. All of them had vegan cheese, which wasn’t like your usual plastic ones.

They are delivered in a handy cardboard box and can be stored in the fridge for later if needed. I enjoyed a few of them hot straight out the box, and left some to try the next day cold. Honestly, they are perfect either way.

Veganius

  • Location: Palermo
  • Dish recommendation: Milanesa de Seitan

Veganius is a lovely vegan cafe located in Palermo, with a selection of healthy lunch dishes and baked goods. They have some great coffee and pastry deals, so you can be sipping on espresso whilst eating your vegan medialuna, just like a local!

I tried out their seitan milanesa and one of their salads. I wanted to see the quality of the ingredients and flavours they brought to the food, and overall, I was impressed. The dishes contained a good variety of veggies, which I haven’t seen enough of in other places.

The salad had lentils, vegetables, rice balls, and a hummus made from peas. And the milanesa had a side salad, roasted potatoes and some dips. It felt comforting yet also fresh. Plus, there was plenty of protein to be found!

It makes for a great lunch spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating!

A table full of vegan food like milanesa and a burger with fries at Relicioso - some of the best vegan food in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Relicioso

If you are looking for something a little more greasy, then check out Relicioso. Their portion sizes are huge (we had to take most of our food home to eat later), and everything is very indulgent.

They offer a variety of vegan fast food, including burgers, sandwiches, breaded seitan pizzas (milanesas), and desserts. They also sell coffee and pastries, and open at 8 am, making it a great spot for breakfast.

The food is a little heavy and greasy, so I wouldn’t eat it often, but it is a great, affordable treat!

A vegan Choripan sandwich at Menta y Limon - some of the best vegan food in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Menta y Limon

Menta y Limón is a vegan food stand located inside a marketplace. They offer a mixed menu at pretty affordable prices.

They have salads, pasta, crepes, milanesa, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and a wide range of empanadas. As well as specials and desserts.

The food is flavourful and they have a good variety of vegan Argentinian foods to try out.

The one thing to note is that because it is located inside a market, you may be able to smell some of the animal-based products being sold by other vendors.

More vegan food

Buenos Aires’ vegan food scene is growing. When I first visited in 2025, I was impressed to find vegan restaurants at all. But having returned in 2026, I am even more impressed to find more places. Many of which seem to be thriving! So you really won’t be stuck for choice here.

With that in mind, if you can’t find anything in my top picks list above, then you may want to check out some of these other fully vegan spots in Buenos Aires:

  • Vake It: A cute vegan bakery that serves takeaway pastries and coffee. Annoyingly, they were undergoing renovations when I visited so I couldn’t try their food, but the reviews and pictures online look insane!
  • Let It V: They have two spots in Buenos Aires, serving vegan sushi, noodle dishes, and salad bowls. The waiter in one of their establishments is known for being very moody (check out their mixed Google Maps reviews), but we did manage to get one smile out of him. The food is fresh and tasty, but does not particularly stand out for me.

Vegan-friendly spots

If you don’t mind visiting non-vegan spots, particularly if you want to try out some of the popular local hotspots, then these are some solid options:

  • Electrica Pizza (left photo) – a vegetarian pizza joint with sourdough bases and a variety of vegan options with really good vegan cheese!
  • Churrería el Toro (middle photo) – a churro chain with a separate vegan menu of filled churros, including vegan dulce de leche, hummus, and jams
  • Güerrin (right photo) – a famous local pizza restaurant with vegan cheese options

February 2026 update:

Craft Vegan Bakery is no longer vegan. When I first visited Buenos Aires, I ate at Craft Vegan Bakery. As the name suggests, it was a vegan bakery. However, they recently started selling products with cow’s milk and cheese. Yet they have not changed their brand name. They have multiple bakeries dotted across the city, so please be careful when ordering from here.

Casa Nueza is no longer vegan. Casa Nueza recently decided to change up their bakery and cafe menu, introducing animal products. Their brunch menu now only has 1 or 2 vegan options out of around 5-6 dishes, which is really sad. And maybe around half of their baked items. This used to be my favourite vegan spot in Buenos Aires, so I am a little gutted about this one!
