It feels so good walking into a shop knowing you can buy anything you want. So, you can imagine how happy I was to discover not one but five vegan supermarkets in Mexico City.
Okay, ‘supermarket’ may be stretching it a little. They aren’t large, but most are well stocked with all the vegan essentials! Think tofu, fake meats, milk, supplements, desserts, cooking ingredients and more.
So, if you find yourself in Mexico City, check out these awesome vegan supermarkets. You’ll also be supporting small, local vegan businesses in the process!

Mora Mora
- Location: Roma Norte & Condesa
- Online shop: market.moramora.mx
- Sells: Milk, cheese, fake meats, bread, grains, sweet treats, supplements, protein powder, ready meals, pasta, sauces, toiletries & more
One of my favourite vegan supermarkets is at Mora Mora. Here, you can find fresh produce, a zero-waste ingredient dispensary with cheap oats, chia seeds, nutritional yeast, and grains, a wide variety of plant-based milk and meats, bread, natural wine, snacks, functional mushrooms and protein powder.
I’ve been able to get away with doing most of my food shopping here, thanks to the fresh produce and grain dispensary.
They have multiple locations, but only two of them have a market. The largest is in their Roma Norte (Colima) location, and their Condesa location also has a small but well-stocked shop.
Bonus points for the fact that they stock Oatly barista! You can also get Oatly in plenty of coffee shops around the city – discover my favourite oat flat whites in CDMX here.

Abasto Vegano
- Location: Narvarte Poniente & Nápoles
- Online shop: abastovegano.com
- Sells: Fake meats, milk, cheese, sweet treats, cooking ingredients, drinks, pastries & more
Abasto Vegano is another of my favourite vegan shops in this list because of the variety of products that they sell. I discovered some interesting fake meats made out of mushrooms, as well as delicious pastries, vegan honey, and useful cooking ingredients.
They have two locations as well as an online shop. Plus, their supermarket doubles up as a coffee shop, meaning you can sit outside and enjoy one of their pastries and a coffee!
I particularly enjoy the Mazapán (a traditional Mexican sweet made from peanuts) that they sell here.

Vegan Label
- Location: Narvarte Oriente
- Online shop: veganlabel.mx
- Sells: Fake meats, milk, cheese, sweet treats, supplements & toiletries
Vegan Label is a small but well-stocked shop located in Narvarte Oriente. Their physical store is quite new, so they are open to suggestions on what to stock! You will also find more products on their online shop.
I was able to buy some vegan toiletries here, but you can also find vegan milk, tofu, cheese, fake meats, snacks, and even some merch (t-shirts and totes). You may not be able to do your full food shop here, but you will be able to get a few vegan essentials!

Mr. Tofu
- Location: Condesa
- Online shop: mrtofu.com
- Sells: Milk, cheese, fake meats, drinks, health foods, supplements, protein powder, condiments, & cereals
Mr. Tofu is a chain of vegan supermarkets. You will find a few of them dotted around the country, including Mexico City, Mérida, Playa del Carmen, Monterrey, and Cancun.
They stock all of the vegan essentials, mostly from American brands, including Follow Your Heart and Beyond Meat. You will be able to purchase vegan cheese, fake meats, tofu, tempeh, ice cream, vegan milk, supplements, cereal, and some toiletries. The real highlight for me here is their range of vegan mayonnaise and other condiments!
They also have a small sandwich shop operating out of the shop, with seating outside. So you can enjoy some of the tasty fake meats they sell inside a sub-style sandwich!

Puro Amor
- Location: Col del Valle Sur
- Online shop: puroamorvegano.com
- Sells: Fake meats, cheese, pastries, a few cooking ingredients, and desserts
Puro Amor is the smallest of the vegan shops, so I wouldn’t say it is worth visiting unless you are in the area. But they do stock most of the essentials, like tofu, vegan milk, supplements, vegan cheese, and snacks. Including some tasty desserts and pastries.
You will also find some cooking ingredients like nutritional yeast and some vegan toiletries.
