No matter whether it’s for a holiday or full-time travel, packing your life into your suitcase can be tough. Having spent the last 6 years travelling and living out of my suitcase, I have learnt the true meaning of essential.
It took a lot of overweight suitcases to get me to this point, but now I know exactly what I need. Everything in my suitcase has a purpose. And all those little extra things that “I may need at some point” have been ditched along the way.
In this article I will be sharing the nine toiletries I never travel without – my absolute essentials for staying prepared, no matter where I am in the world.

SURI toothbrush
I much prefer travelling with an electric toothbrush to a disposable brush, particularly since it provides a more effective clean and I travel for long periods of time and don’t want to risk my dental health. However, most electric toothbrushes require regular charging.
This isn’t the case with my SURI Toothbrush, which lasts 40+ days between charges. It also comes with a slimline travel case, which is great for keeping it clean and safe during travelling, and an inbuilt UV light that cleans the brush head.

Panasonic portable water flosser
After undergoing root canal treatment a few years back I am a huge advocate for water flossers. They make flossing that bit easier and they are effective. However, they are usually very bulky and not particularly travel-friendly.
Which is why I always travel with this portable water flosser from Panasonic. When not in use, the part that holds the water can be stacked on top of the body of the flosser, cutting the size down by half. The one I have requires AA batteries, rather than a rechargeable lithium battery, which is great for packing into hold luggage.
If you don’t mind carrying your water flosser in your carry-on luggage, you may also be interested in their portable water flosser with a rechargeable lithium battery.
Kri Skincare
My skincare routine is pretty simple but very effective. After washing my face I use a few drops of Kri’s prickly pear seed oil to moisturise my face, and that’s it! Unless I am going out in the sun when I layer on their mineral SPF30.
The best thing about prickly pear seed oil is that it is highly moisturising and absorbs well into the skin. Moreover, one bottle lasts forever, because a little goes a long way. Which is why I love to take it travelling with me.
If you end up drying your face in the sun or in cold weather, the prickly pear seed oil will definitely fix it! Find out more in my full Kri Skincare review.
Make Waves Deodorant
I’ve tried out a lot of travel-friendly deodorants over the past few years and the one that has been the most effective for me in all climates is this refillable antiperspirant from Make Waves.
It has kept my sweat at bay in both hot and cold climates and smells great too! I find each refill lasts me for a fair few months, meaning I only need to pack a few replacements for long-term travel. If you are going on a 1-2 week holiday, you won’t need to bring extra.

Green People Sun Cream
If you are going somewhere sunny, sun cream is an absolute must. It is pretty easy to buy one out on your travels, but they aren’t often vegan-friendly or reef-safe, like this one from Green People.
It is made for sensitive skin and so causes me absolutely zero irritation. It also contains Inositol, from the Carob tree, which helps speed up the tanning process whilst also providing you with protection from UV rays.

Nope Shampoo and Conditioner bars
For a long time, I used to rely on the provided shampoo and conditioners in hotels and Airbnbs, but my hair always looked limp and lifeless. I’m not sure if it was the constant changes to my haircare routine, or the bad quality of the products that were provided, but my hair improved greatly after switching to these handy shampoo and conditioner bars from Nope.
Most shampoo and conditioner bars don’t work for me, leaving my hair greasy and dirty. But these lather up nicely and the conditioner bar leaves my hair feeling super soft. They are also really easy to travel with and will last you a few months per bar.
Just make sure to check out which of their bars is best for your hair type!
Estrid Razor
If you like to shave but also hate disposing of single-use plastic razors just to keep those hairs at bay, then you may well have tried out a few alternatives, like safety razors. Which in my experience, are anything but safe. I have taken a fair few chunks of skin out of myself using a safety razor, and I persisted with mine for at least a year.
It is one of the many reasons I love my Estrid razor. They have made their reusable razor base out of metal so it is long-lasting. The heads are made from plastic, but they last me a lot longer than the average razor head that I have bought from Boots or Superdrug.
The razor stays sharp for ages and the vegan-friendly lubricating strip lasts for as long as the blades. Plus they also sell a handy travel case for your razor which will keep the rest of your luggage safe from those blades!
