After seven years of full-time travel, I’ve wheeled, dragged, lifted, and occasionally sworn at more luggage than I care to admit. It all started with a cheap hand-me-down suitcase, which barely managed just one long-haul journey.
Since then, I’ve tested countless bags (from budget buys to premium cases) and slowly built a setup I genuinely trust. It features both a hard and a soft-shell check-in suitcase, a hard-shell carry-on (fit for most airlines), a duffel bag (perfect for Ryanair’s rather strict allowance), and a backpack.
Because each type of bag serves its own purpose, choosing a single “best” brand is impossible. And honestly, unhelpful. So instead, I’ve put together this guide to the six luggage brands I’ve used (and loved) over the years.

Level8 has quickly become one of my favourite all-round luggage brands. Their cases feel solid, thoughtfully designed, and easy to travel with. They offer a great mix of sizes and styles too, from compact carry-ons to sturdy check-in cases, and a wide range of colours.
What I really like about Level8 is the balance between quality and price. You’re not paying luxury-brand money, but the build quality (especially the shells and wheels) feels far more premium than the price tag suggests. Their interiors are well laid out, everything opens smoothly, and the cases themselves feel reassuringly durable.
The only thing to be aware of is that Level8’s sturdier build means some models are slightly heavier than ultra-light competitors, and (like most brands) scuffs do show over time.
But overall, Level8 is a brilliant pick if you want a reliable, great-value suitcase that’s built to last. I’ve used both their carry-on and check-in bags, which have both earnt a permanent spot in my luggage rotation.

DB Journey

Price-wise, DB Journey sits in the mid-to-premium range, reflecting the quality and versatility of their products. Whilst not the cheapest, the gear is a good investment that will last!
July

July is probably the most colourful and fun luggage brand I use. Their suitcases come in a wide range of bright, cheerful colours that make spotting your bag at baggage claim easy. And if you completely lose it, some of them even come with built-in tracking!
I like July for their lightweight and practical designs. The hard-shell cases are strong but easy to lift, and the interiors are thoughtfully organised with compartments and straps that keep everything in place. The smooth wheels and comfortable handles make it simple to navigate busy airports or city streets.
In terms of price, July sits in the mid-range. The value is good when you consider the quality, durability, and fun design. If you want luggage that stands out from the usual black suitcases and keeps your packing stress-free, July is a brand that delivers both style and practicality.
Antler

Antler is a classic British luggage brand offering luxury luggage items and lifetime warranties (for purchases after May 2023). One thing I really appreciate about Antler is how well-rounded their offering is. They make everything from hard‑shell polycarbonate suitcases to soft‑shell wheeled bags.
Their 12-point testing process suggests they don’t cut corners on durability. Plus, there are designs to suit all kinds of trips, including city breaks, business travel, and long getaways.
Whilst I have never had an issue with their luggage, some people on Reddit and TrustPilot have reported issues with their customer service.
Monos

Monos is the luggage brand of influencers. It is stylish and practical, with sleek colour palettes that look good in a fancy airport lounge.
But they are more than just about the looks, like Antler, Monos offer a lifetime warranty. This covers the parts that matter the most – the wheels, locks and handles.
On the flip side, there are a few criticisms worth knowing. Scuffing and surface wear are relatively common occurrences on their cases, which can somewhat affect the design. Although this is pretty common with most hard-shell suitcases.
Eastpak

Eastpak is all about durability and practicality. Their soft-shell suitcases are especially durable. I’ve been using mine for years, and it still shows no major signs of wear. The range covers everything from cabin bags to larger wheeled cases, and the simple, functional design makes them easy to travel with, whether for short city breaks or longer trips.
One of the things I appreciate most about Eastpak is how hard-wearing their bags are. The wheels roll smoothly, the handles feel sturdy, and the compartments keep your items organised.
They might not be the flashiest luggage on the market, but for travellers who want reliability and minimal fuss, Eastpak delivers every time.
