For me, the only thing that beats staying at a beautiful hotel is staying at a beautiful vegan hotel. Knowing that everything in the hotel is completely vegan, from the toiletries and the bedding, to the food and drinks, makes the stay that bit more special.

So I was really excited to visit Agrivilla i Pini, a fully vegan hotel in Tuscany, Italy. I have been wanting to go for years, so when I was visiting Florence (approx. 60km away), I knew this was the perfect opportunity.

I booked for 3 nights in the hotel and will be sharing my honest experience of my time there with you in this review!

Please note, this Agrivilla i Pini review was not in any way sponsored or paid for by the hotel. It was in fact a treat for my partner’s birthday.

What is Agrivilla i Pini?

Agrivilla i Pini is a fully vegan hotel with 11 lodgings, situated on an eco farm with a vineyard and olive grove. The converted farmhouse is home to a fully vegan restaurant, saltwater swimming pool, and surrounding gardens.

The hotel offers both breakfast and dinner to its guests, with the option to pay for lunch or enjoy a picnic in the local town or amongst the olive trees within their grounds. They also have a bar which offers coffee, cocktails, beers and natural wines made from the grapes in their vineyard.

Agrivilla i Pini offers an escape from modern-day life, with slow living and digital detoxes. It is the perfect relaxing getaway in the beautiful Tuscany countryside.

Where is Agrivilla i Pini?

Agrivilla i Pini is located in Tuscany, Italy. Nearby to the small medieval hill town of San Gimignano (a few minutes drive or 20 minutes walk). It is quite remote, with no major towns nearby, so it makes for the perfect countryside getaway.

We got a taxi from Florence (south of the centre), which took us about 50 minutes and cost around €120. On the way back, we made our way to the local train station to get a train back to Florence.

Here are the closest transport links to the vegan hotel:

  • Nearest airports: Florence (60km), Pisa (80km), Bologna (150km), and Rome (270km)
  • Nearest train station: Poggibonsi (20-minute taxi drive from hotel and costs €35 one way)

My experience

I stayed at Agrivilla i Pini for half a week in June 2025 as a short getaway with my partner. During this time, we experienced a few of their breakfast and dinner services, spent a lot of time in the saltwater pool, wandered the grounds, and visited the nearby town.

Here are my thoughts on our experience staying at Agrivilla i Pini vegan hotel!

The location

Agrivilla i Pini is a true countryside escape, located in the rolling Tuscany countryside, surrounded by vineyards and farmhouses. There is a small medieval town nearby, called San Gimignano, which is well worth a visit. And there are a few bigger towns with train stations around a 30-minute drive away (which makes accessing the hotel pretty easy).

But otherwise, you are in the middle of nowhere, and it is incredibly peaceful. It is incredibly serene and beautiful. I loved walking around their olive grove and vineyards, climbing up the hill and seeing miles and miles of beautiful Tuscany countryside around me.

Moreover, the nearby town is great to walk around, with old buildings to explore and pretty side streets to get lost down. It was also possible to get vegan food in the town, including a few gelato options and some vegan-friendly pasta dishes.

I found the location to be perfect. I felt relaxed the moment I got there. I would have enjoyed simply spending three days at the hotel doing nothing. But it was also nice to have San Gimignano nearby, because it made for a fun daytime adventure.

The rooms

We booked an ‘Elemento’ room, which is their cheapest offering, and it was stunning. I can only imagine what the other rooms are like, with balconies, private gardens, and views of the town.

The room had a rustic charm with beautiful tiled flooring, original features used as decorations, wooden furniture, and lovely linen bedding.

The air conditioning was sufficient at keeping the room nice and cool, but in the evenings, we enjoyed having the windows open with the light breeze coming through. Thankfully, they had mosquito nets up on the windows, which made this possible.

There was plenty of space to hang up clothing as well as tables to keep our belongings. Moreover, the bathroom was well-sized, with a large sink area, a great shower, and a toilet with a bidet.

I could have spent a lot of time relaxing in the bedroom, but the beautiful outdoor space and saltwater pool kept pulling me away!

The amenities

The hotel has a lot to offer for their guests, including a bar, dining space, reading area, saltwater pool, and grounds to wander around with a vineyard, olive grove, and eco farmland.

The saltwater pool is incredibly relaxing, and to be honest, is where I spent most of my time. There are plenty of beds with umbrellas surrounding the pool, so you can spend the day there reading and relaxing.

As well as the amenities, the hotel offer weekly events, including yoga within the vineyard, wine tasting (at an extra cost), and walks around the grounds.

The food and drinks

Overall, I enjoyed the food at Agrivilla i Pini. It was more on the healthy and wholesome side of things, utilising a lot of their homegrown produce and a huge variety of whole foods. The menu changes each day and is based on the seasonality of their produce. But I imagine some dishes make a comeback every so often.

Each dinner comes with a basket of homemade bread, which we enjoyed with their homemade olive oil. Moreover, you can order drinks to accompany the dinner, but they aren’t included in the room price. We enjoyed trying out their natural wines, each of which was delicious. Both their wine and olive oil can be bought to take home!

Some of the dishes were standouts, like the panzanella and the almond semifreddo, but others were a little less exciting. For example, we had a risotto one evening that was quite bland and a raw crepe which was a little too sticky (both dishes not pictured).

The breakfasts were satisfying with a bowl of porridge to start and a platter of sweet and savoury foods after, including a nut butter and some bread. They also had oat milk for coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice.

I always felt satisfied after meals, and it was the perfect style of food for such a peaceful countryside getaway, even when some of the dishes could have been improved somewhat!

The service

I found all of the staff to be attentive, friendly, and welcoming. There was always someone around to help and they were always very warm and happy to help.

Both breakfast and dinner service felt relaxed and seamless. In the evenings, the staff were able to recommend great wines for each dish and when asked, provided descriptions of each dish and the sourcing of the ingredients.

The only downside was that they shut the main hotel area around 10-11pm, which meant there was no bar service after this time. One of the nights we were outside playing card games and would have loved one last glass of their natural wine, but found that everything had been shut.

The price

It isn’t cheap to stay at Agrivilla i Pini, but then it isn’t dissimilar to the price of other hotels of this standard. Moreover, the price includes breakfast and dinner for each day of your stay.

I found that you can sometimes find the room rate a little cheaper when booking last minute, plus it can be cheaper when staying off-season.

Here is a price comparison chart for each room during the summer season:

Review verdict

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Agrivilla i Pini to anyone. It is such a beautiful space and I felt so relaxed during my time there. I hadn’t realised just how much I needed the time off, and floating around in their saltwater pool, wandering the grounds, eating the wholesome food, and sipping on their natural wines, was just what I needed.

The rooms and hotel spaces are beautiful, I love the rustic charm. It feels very Italian! The food at times offers you a vegan insight into local cuisine, and I thoroughly enjoyed the majority of the dishes. There were some that were a little bland at times, but with the focus on seasonality and healthy whole foods, I can overlook that.

All I wish was that they left their bar open later, for those of us who enjoy their natural wines and late evenings, and for my stay to have been a few days longer!
