Hotels and resorts are notoriously bad for vegans. With very meat-centric breakfast buffets, I’ve often been left to graze on dry toast and fruit salad. Oh, and the occasional dry hash brown.

For me, the smell that wafts out of most hotel restaurants is enough to put me off staying there. This is why I’ve mostly bypassed hotels since turning vegan, opting for self-catered apartments instead. But even those have kitchens which will have been used to cook animal products. I waste a lot of time thoroughly cleaning every kitchen utensil, pan, and plate upon arrival.

But I have good news, the hospitality industry is evolving! There are now a plethora of vegan hotels dotted around the world, in a variety of vegan-friendly travel destinations! They have all of the beauty and charm of a hotel but with none of the animal products. You can eat to your heart’s content whilst sipping on a plant-based cocktail, or two. In this guide to the best worldwide vegan hotels, I have included a variety of options – from resorts and all-inclusive hotels to self-catering and B&Bs.

Vegan-friendly hotels

If none of these 100% vegan hotels take your fancy, then you may be interested in one of these vegan-friendly options:

Why trust my vegan hotel roundup?

I am a full-time vegan traveller with no home or fixed abode. I pretty much live in hotels and apartments. Therefore, I know a good vegan hotel when I see one!

For me, it is important there are plenty of vegan food options on-site as well as friendly staff who are either vegan themselves, or they respect those who follow a vegan lifestyle. Anything on top of this is an added extra!

My selection process

When it came to selecting the vegan hotels and resorts that were to be included in this roundup I used the following criteria:

  • 100% vegan: There are many popular vegan-friendly hotels and resorts that I haven’t included here because I want to promote fully vegan establishments. For example, I have left off the very popular The Farm at San Benito (Philippines), because whilst they have a vegan restaurant on-site, they also have a vegetarian and pescatarian restaurant. But, I have included a list of vegan-friendly hotels (click here) above just in case you can’t find what you are looking for from the list of 100% vegan hotels.
  • Well-rated: I have made sure to include only well-rated vegan hotels, both by customers and official reviewers.
  • Variety of locations: I want to give options to people worldwide. Whilst I can’t choose where the vegan hotels are located, I can select a few on most continents to show off to you.

Is there an awesome vegan hotel that you believe is worthy of being featured in this roundup? Drop me a comment below!

I’ve been to Puerto Rico so many times but have never visited Vieques. I’ve heard so many great things about Finca Victoria, and it’s definitely on my list for my next trip.

I’d love to hear about your experience there if you do visit!
