Looking for accommodation with good internet, a comfortable workspace, access to community events, and more? You’ll love these digital nomad rental sites!

When I started my digital nomad journey I was a huge advocate for Airbnb. You could rent a room or apartment pretty much anywhere in the world for much less than you pay for monthly rent at home. Fast forward to 2024 and I try to avoid Airbnb at all costs. Most accommodation you find on there is overpriced and usually not suitable for remote working – countless times I’ve had to survive on worse than rubbish internet.

Thankfully, as digital nomads grew in number, so did digital nomad accommodation sites. You no longer have to couch surf to do things on the cheap, thanks to the likes of Trustedhousesitters, and you can find affordable accommodation with on-site co-working spaces that boast decent internet! Plus, some will even allow you to meet like-minded people.

So, move over Airbnb – these are the best sites for digital nomad rentals with options to suit all needs!

Coliving

  • Best for: Coliving spaces
  • Type: Global coliving accommodation
  • Price range: All budgets

If living with other people is your kinda thing then you’ll enjoy booking accommodation through Coliving. They offer a variety of coliving spaces across 60 countries. Each booking includes zero booking fees, payment protection, and easy cancellation.

I particularly enjoy the wide variety of options available on their site. There is something for every budget and rentals to suit all needs. If you are looking for accommodation with lively community events, then you’ll find that on Coliving. If you are looking for a relaxing and intimate coliving space with quiet co-working rooms, you’ll also find that on Coliving!

For those of you who don’t fancy the prospect of meeting loads of new people, you will be happy to know that there are also some private spaces (like studios) available on Coliving’s site.

It may not be the most ideal working set up, but you can’t beat cuddles with cats whilst replying to emails

TrustedHousesitters

  • Best for: Low budgets
  • Type: House and pet sitting
  • Price range: Free (apart from yearly membership)

If you love pets then you are going to love TrustedHousesitters. It is also a much more budget-friendly option. TrustedHousesitters works by connecting home/pet owners with sitters. You pay a yearly membership fee (starting from £99) which gives you access to thousands of housesits around the world. Find out more in my TrustedHousesitters review.

No money is exchanged for the housesits and you will easily make back the yearly membership fee by doing just one housesit. You will find all sorts of opportunities on TrustedHousesitters all around the world, but it does pay to check up on the website regularly as good housesits will go very quickly!

From experience, it would be difficult to live in housesits permanently, but I enjoy alternating it in between coliving spaces. It has given me the opportunity to stay longer in certain locations and discover another side of the local area. Plus, I will take any opportunity to meet animals!

Outsite

  • Best for: Luxury stays
  • Type: Coliving and studio accommodation
  • Price range: Mid-high

Outsite is like the WeWork of the digital nomad accommodation world. They have curated a portfolio of coliving spaces for digital nomads to live and work in. They are all beautifully designed and created with remote workers in mind.

They come at a cost, particularly in more expensive destinations like New York and Amsterdam. But they offer a little bit of luxury, which is desirable when living on the road!

Outsite has locations across most of the digital nomad hotspots in Latin America, the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Each space offers something unique, with some set up as studios, and others with poolside rooms. Some of their coworking spaces are open to non-guests for a fee.

A workspace inside a Flatio apartment - one of the best digital nomad accommodation sites

Flatio

  • Best for: Mid-term rentals
  • Type: Apartment rentals
  • Price range: All budgets

Flatio is a rental site designed with digital nomads and remote workers in mind. Landlords can advertise their properties directly to you through the platform with many options for short-, mid-, and long-term stays.

It is one of the only places where you will find great apartments that are available for 2 to 3 months, with zero deposits. This is great for us digital nomads, who are more likely to stay in one place for a few months at a time. Plus, tenants are protected through their StayProtection policy, which includes liability coverage of up to €20,000.

I particularly enjoy their Airbnb-style search functionality that allows you to browse through properties whilst viewing the map. Currently, most of their rentals are located in Europe.

Inside a Locke Aparthotel - one of the best digital nomad accommodation sites
Inside a Locke studio in Aldgate, London

Locke

  • Best for: European aparthotels
  • Type: Aparthotels (studios and apartments)
  • Price range: Mid to high

Locke is a chain of design-led aparthotels dotted across the UK and Europe. The majority of their rooms are designed as studios and apartments that are made to be lived in. This means you will have a well-kitted-out kitchen, bathroom and living space inside your room. Find out more in my Locke review.

Moreover, many Locke locations also have an on-site coworking space, gym, coffee shop, and free-to-use laundry rooms.

The locations are perfect for exploring cities and they are regularly opening up new locations across Europe. At the moment you will be able to enjoy Locke aparthotels in London, Lisbon, Berlin, Edinburgh, and more! They will cost you a little more than an apartment you’ll find on Facebook, but not as much as paying for a nice hotel for the month.

The workplace provided in an Anyplace apartment - one of the best digital nomad accommodation sites

Anyplace

  • Best for: US rentals
  • Type: Apartment rental in the US
  • Price range: High

If you are in the US and you want to rent a well-equipped apartment that is set up with an extensive workspace (including webcams, microphones, and more), so that you can feel at home on your travels, then Anyplace is for you.

They have really thought about all the needs of a remote worker and ensured that their apartments are set up for easy living. Not only are the apartments kitted out with a workstation, a fully equipped kitchen, and a cleaning service, but the apartment blocks also have a gym and coworking space.

At the moment, you will find Anyplace in Los Angeles, New York City, San Diego and San Francisco. Make sure to fill out their ‘Request a Location’ form to ensure their apartments pop up in even more awesome locations!!
