My favourite 100% vegan cafes in London

A slice of vegan cake. A fluffy plant-based pastry. A warm vegan toastie. Or a stack of the most delicious plant-based pancakes. All of these (and more) can be found at these incredible vegan cafes in London.

You can’t beat lazy mornings sitting in cafes, drinking a cup of coffee, and eating your way through the menu while reading a great book. It is even better when visiting one of these fantastic 100% vegan cafes in London!

These are places where you can get a great bite to eat, be it for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Some serve up delicious vegan and gluten-free cakes, and others offer a great selection of delectable pastries, sandwiches and even sushi.

I hope you enjoy these London vegan cafes! Got any other suggestions that I’ve missed out here? Drop them in the comments below. I love any excuse to try out a new vegan cafe.

A coffee and a cookie at Fields Beneath a vegan cafe in London

The Fields Beneath

The Fields Beneath is something of a vegan institution. It was one of my favourite vegan cafes when I was working as a vegan chef in London (circa 2018) and today it still is! They have a great selection of pastries, cookies, cakes, and a few hot savoury dishes. They sell some of my favourite vegan croissants in London – definitely try their whopper of a pain au chocolat.

Their bagels are delicious, particularly when they fill them with their amazingly eggy vegan scrambled tofu. They often include a wrap on the menu alongside their regular Rarebit Croissant dish.

They have limited seating indoors but there are also quite a few tables dotted around outside. It is a great spot to sit and chill in on a warm sunny day. You can also stick around until the afternoon for a few glasses of natural wine.

We Are Vegan Everything - a vegan cafe in London
A WAVE croissant I ordered for takeaway

We Are Vegan Everything

We Are Vegan Everything (WAVE) is a very chic vegan cafe located in Hackney. They have also recently opened another venue in Stoke Newington. The space gives off real holiday vibes and the food is absolutely delicious.

If you get the opportunity, you must order one of their toasties. They usually have a version of their toastie with Fable mushroom ‘meat’ toasted inside a vegan brioche bun. As long as you can resist ordering a stack of their pancakes or a variety of pastries, that is.

There is plenty of seating both inside and out but it can get busy at the weekends! If you can bag yourself one of their outdoor loungers then you can relax into the space and whack out a good book while you sip away at one of their peanut butter coffees.

A vegan ham and brie filled pastry at Dauns one of my favourite vegan cafes in London

Dauns

Dauns is a vegan Scandinavian cafe located just off Brick Lane, next to Spitalfields. It is a great spot for a quick lunch, but they also offer a great wine list and Scandi-inspired cocktails.

Their classic Scandi open sandwiches are brimming with flavour and you can buy a lot of the ingredients separately to make these dishes at home. This includes their Tofish (a tofu fish alternative), salads and pickles.

This cafe is unlike any other you’ll have visited thanks to its Scandinavian flavours. There are a fair few seats inside as well as a takeaway fridge with dishes fit for a picnic in the park!

123V - a vegan cafe in London

123V

123V is a vegan cafe and bakery owned by the chef behind Gauthier Soho (one of my favourite vegan fine dining restaurants) and the newly opened, Studio Gauthier. Their menu is predominantly based around vegan sushi, but you can also buy a selection of salads, sandwiches and pastries.

It is located inside the BFI building close to Oxford Street, making it the perfect spot for a mid-shopping bite to eat. The sushi is packed full of flavour and feels clean and fresh. Plus their bakery items are delicious.

They have a lot of seating indoors, including some booths which are great for slumping into. During the warmer months they also set up some chairs and tables outside.

A plate of vegan french toast served at Mallow Borough Market a vegan cafe in London

Mallow

Okay, Mallow is more a restaurant than a ‘cafe’, but they do serve the most amazing breakfast and brunch dishes! Plus, they have options to make it a boozy brunch (+ no/low options) with large stacks of pancakes or a full English breakfast. You really can’t go wrong!

Their pancakes are some of the fluffiest I’ve ever had and they are often experimenting with the flavour combinations. Which is a great reason to keep on going back.

Both locations are quite sophisticated while still feeling quite laid back and casual. It is a great spot for brunch with friends or a delicious breakfast for 1 with a book or the newspaper.

The Gallery Cafe - a vegan cafe in London

If you are on the lookout for a good old-fashioned fry-up with all the trimmings then get yourself on over to The Gallery Cafe. It is located inside St. Margaret’s House, a community events space. So you can tie in your visit with an art workshop or well-being session!

Their menu is very homely and includes dishes like full English breakfast, waffles, beans on toast, and more. They also have a selection of lunchtime dishes, including a kimchi toastie and a rice bowl.

They have a lovely outdoor courtyard to sit in that is dog-friendly (bonus!)
