It was not too long ago that even mentioning the word vegan could cause a scene in a place like Paris. But on my recent trip to the city, I found something of a haven for vegan travellers, with a thriving vegan restaurant scene and, remarkably, a fully vegan hotel!

Having recently stayed in a vegan hotel in Tuscany (check out my Agrivilla i Pini review here) and loved the experience, I knew I had to try this one too.

In this Hôtel HOY review, I will share my experience of my recent stay there, including my thoughts on the location, the rooms, the service, the amenities, the food in the restaurant and the price.

Pros

  • Fully vegan throughout (food, toiletries, linens, etc.)
  • Great location, close to the metro and Montmartre
  • On-site restaurant with early breakfast from 7.30 am
  • Beautiful, calming Parisian-style rooms
  • Wonderfully friendly staff

Cons

  • Rooms are not fully soundproofed
  • No coffee facilities in the room
  • No common area to relax in

What is Hôtel HOY?

Hôtel HOY is a four-star wellness hotel tucked into the 9th arrondissement of Paris, just below the Montmartre area. It is built around five pillars: accommodation, the on-site plant-based restaurant Mesa, a yoga studio, a florist, and a treatment and massage room. Everything about the place, from the food to the toiletries, is fully vegan (or plant-based, as they say).

It is a calm, thoughtfully designed space that feels more like a wellness space than a traditional hotel, which is either exactly what you are looking for or something to bear in mind before you book.

At a glance:

  • 4-star hotel
  • Fully vegan (food, toiletries, linens)
  • On-site restaurant (Mesa)
  • Yoga studio on site
  • Pet-friendly on request

My experience

I stayed at Hôtel HOY for five nights in March 2026, using it as my base for exploring the city. It was my first time staying at this vegan hotel in Paris, and I was curious to find out more about their service.

The calm, welcoming atmosphere made it a genuinely lovely place to come back to at the end of a long day of eating my way around the city, and the early breakfast was a real bonus for an early riser like me (considering it was tough to find other vegan restaurants open at an early enough hour).

The location

The location is excellent. The hotel sits a short walk from Pigalle metro station, putting you within easy reach of the rest of the city. The neighbourhood itself is lively and interesting, home to the Moulin Rouge and close to the brilliant Montmartre area, which is well worth a wander (and a treat for anyone who loves Amélie).

Despite being in a street-facing room, I found it quiet enough on weekday nights, which I was pleasantly surprised by. There are also a handful of vegan spots nearby (check out my vegan food in Paris guide).

The rooms

The rooms are beautiful and, genuinely, bigger than I was expecting. The design is calm and minimal, with big Parisian windows, earthy tones, and natural materials throughout. Mine looked out onto scaffolding, which is to be expected in Paris sometimes, and not at all the fault of the hotel!

There is no TV, which I actually liked. In its place, there is a dedicated stretching space, which fits perfectly with the hotel’s ethos. The shower is excellent, and the vegan toiletries are a lovely touch. There is also a good selection of teas in the room.

A couple of things were missing for me, though. There is no conditioner in the bathroom, and no coffee-making facilities in the room. The latter was probably my biggest gripe. That said, the restaurant downstairs serves great coffee, so it is not the end of the world.

One thing worth knowing: I didn’t find my room to be at all soundproofed. I could hear people in the adjoining room and in the corridor at times, so if you are a light sleeper, bear that in mind.

The service

The staff throughout the hotel are wonderful. Everyone I encountered, both in the hotel and the restaurant, was warm, happy to help, and spoke English without any fuss. It made the whole stay feel very easy and relaxed.

My only real gripe with service was the room turnover timing. Throughout my stay, the Housekeeping came around 4 pm, which felt a little late. I often spent my mornings out and returned in the early afternoon, only to find the room was just being cleaned. A small thing, but worth mentioning.

The amenities

The yoga studio is a lovely addition, though I did not personally use it during my stay. I could not help thinking it would be even more useful if it doubled as a gym space, as that is something many hotel guests look for.

The florist and yoga clothing shop make for a gorgeous entrance, though I suspect most guests will walk past them rather than make use of them.

What I did miss was a sofa or communal area to sit and unwind. The hotel sometimes felt more like a wellness space than a place to simply hang out, and a proper common area would go a long way.

The restaurant

Mesa is the hotel’s plant-based restaurant, and it is open to non-guests too (I write about it in more detail in my Paris vegan food guide). For hotel guests, the biggest draw is breakfast, which starts at 7.30 am, making it one of the earliest fully vegan breakfasts you will find anywhere in the city.

The breakfast menu covers pancakes, avocado toast, pastries, juice, and coffee, and the food is tasty and wholesome. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, and the spirulina butter was a lovely surprise. My only wish was that they offered flat whites.

The evening chef’s menu is perfect for special occasions, inventive and very good, but at around €69 for the food, it is not an every-night option. They also have an à la carte menu, with main dishes around €20.

The price

Rooms at Hôtel HOY start from around €180 per night, which sits right in line with what you would expect to pay for a comparable four-star hotel in this part of Paris.

When you factor in that everything is fully vegan and that breakfast is one of the best plant-based options in the city, it feels like fair value. It is not a budget stay, but it is not a premium either!

Hôtel HOY review verdict

I found Hôtel HOY to be a truly special place to stay, and I would not hesitate to book it again. If you are a vegan traveller, there is something quite peaceful about spending a few nights in a space where every little detail has been thought through with you in mind, from the toiletries in the bathroom to the breakfast in the morning. It takes the mental load out of travelling as a vegan, even just for a few days.

It is not perfect. The soundproofing could be better, the lack of in-room coffee was a bit of an inconvenience, and a common area would make it feel more like a hotel space that you can use freely.

But none of those things would stop me from recommending it wholeheartedly. For a vegan-friendly base in one of the world’s great cities, it is hard to beat.
